Water balances are vital for making judicious
decisions concerning water availability, water conservation, and water
management. This paper aims to identify and estimate the surplus and
deficit of naturally available water during various period of the year.
The volume of different hydrological variables like rainfall, runoff,
evapotranspiration etc. were computed and the volume of surplus and
deficit water for various periods of the year was observed. The analysis
revealed that a major component of the inflow was lost as runoff, which
contributes to about 64% of the total outflow, followed by
evapotranspiration loss. The results highlight the necessity of
efficient water management strategies in order to cater to the ever
increasing demand of water among multiple users.
